Rapper Ja Rule released from prison after two year sentence

 After spending almost two years in prison for attempted illegal gun possession and tax evasion, US rapper Ja Rule has been released from prison. Ja Rule was released from Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York today Tuesday May 6th but will remain on home confinement until July 28th.

Ja Rule was sentenced to two years in prison for attempted criminal possession of a weapon and 28 months for tax evasion. He served both sentences concurrently.

Respond To Corruption Allegations, CACOL Tells Fashola

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) on Monday urged Lagos State Government to defend itself over the allegations of corruption against it.

In a statement in Lagos, the Executive Chairman of CACOL, Mr Debo Adeniran, urged the State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), to render his administration’s stewardship so far to the people of the state.

CACOL’s call is coming on the heels of an allegation of massive corruption in the Fashola-led administration by the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Tunji Shelle.
Adeniran said that the governor should be accountable to the people that voted him to power.

“All we are asking from the governor is to come up with an address on how much the state had generated so far.
“He should let the public know how much has been spent so that they can crosscheck with service providers to be sure the appropriated money is judiciously spent,” Adeniran said.

He said that the anti-graft agency should investigate the allegations, adding, “these allegations by the PDP corroborated our stand on the administration of Fashola. It is a good thing that more members of the public are coming up with demands to probe the state government.

“It is not because CACOL is in alliance with any individual or political party, but it is a point of vindication for our earlier call that Fashola’s administration be probed,” he said.

“When the state House of Assembly wanted to investigate the administration, the governor went to court to obtain injunction from being investigated.

Adeniran said if Fashola’s administration had nothing to hide, it should not be afraid of a probe just as it urged the EFCC to investigate the activities of the state government and make its findings public.
