Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has insisted he will "stand up" and "fight" for himself during his touchline dual with Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson when the two sides clash on Sunday.

The Premier League tie comes on the back of respective jibes from both managers, with the Spaniard indicating the Red Devils should have been more successful in Europe during the Scot's reign after the 71-year-old suggested Benitez was "very concerned" with his CV.

The pair have a strong rivalry stemming from the Blues' interim coach's time at Liverpool and many expect fireworks from the Old Trafford dugout - something the 53-year-old revealed he will have "no problems" with.

"I don’t like personal confrontation, but obviously you want to stand up," he told reporters. "The manager is there and you are close to them [on the touchline], so if he wants to fight, you have to fight.

"I don’t have any problem with that. But I like to concentrate on football issues, that is the main thing, tactically and details about the game.

"In England, sometimes you talk about mind games, but the mind games are just an excuse when you don’t want to talk about the other things.”

The clash is arguably much more important for the west Londoners who are still in the heated race for the final two Champions League places while United have already secured the league title, but the Red Devils boss insisted he will name nothing short of a full-strength side with pride at stake.
